Blithe Bijou started as an idea for a creative, handmade business. I wanted a name that embodied something handmade and something that brought joy to those who came across my art. Blithe means happy and carefree and Bijou means trinket. I loved the way the words worked together and that's how this business was born! The chrysalis is the stage just before a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, the moment just before something miraculous. That magical moment before everything changes for the better. I will never be at this point again, starting my business, changing mine and my family's future. There is something so special about that feeling and the start of this business and that is what was embodied in this painting. This particular painting is truly the definition of transformation. I painted over it at least twice and went through a period of really disliking what was showing up on the canvas. One day I came in the studio and added the finishing touches and I fell in love.
This painting and Mama Chrysalis are what got me started and inspired to make this business a reality. Thank you for being here, thank you for supporting my dream.
